How long do you reckon it takes to get to the Loire from London by car?

Friend 1 says 13 hours after he got off the ferry (hell and not going) but friend 2 says 7 hours (possible, might go.)

Please note I am utterly crap at this and have no idea what ferry / which way he went. I don't live in London either but that's where friend 2 lives.

Thank you!

as in round Rouen? Pays de la Loire?

Probably 3 or 4 hours from Calais.

maybe your friend is thinking of Haute Loire, which is closer to the Ardeche. Its not what most people mean when they say Loire, but maybe thats what hes thinking

Def not a 2 day trip. Mid morning train, doable in one day. Have done so with 3 kids including 3 month old so feeding and nappy changes

Five hours from Calais to Angers, driving calmly and with two small children. We get a ferry at about 8 from Dover, get to Loire mid-afternoon.

It takes us 12-13 hours to drive to the Gers which is much further than the Loire. And we are forced to drive on v tiny dark roads for the last hour or two.

Last year I was going to Loire Valley and decided to break the journey. I stayed at Le Brevedent in Normandy for 2 days in Eurocamp safari tent. It was end of June so not very expensive especially since I also booked ferry through euracamp I saved £50 on fares.
