Mending /replacing Broken/damaged tent pole

Has anyone used a replacement tent pole kit where you record them yourself ?
I can't understand how one tensions them .Is it easy ?

And not sure it will be correct length ,the tent specification says that the poles are 7001 aluminium poles (Ø 10.2 mm) . But I know that they are slightly different lengths and the broken one has a black section bearing the words " pre bent " .

Any advice or help ?

I haven't because my poles don't have cords but I have bought a few poles for tarps from Tent Spares. Am sure if you ask them they will help you.

Watching as we split a pole this wknd too, although it's not totally broken so gaffer tape is my friendGrin

Yep - spent a good couple of hours replacing 12!!!! Sections for our Vango as a result of trying to camp in the back end of a hurricane at Easter (50+ mph winds on a cliff top was not good news!)

Bought them off eBay, then had to cut them to size (top tip - try to avoid getting carbon fibre dust on your skin - it itches like a bastard????)

Basically held the elastic pulled tight by the section to replace, cut it then got ds to hold it while I rethreaded from the other end, then tied the elastic together again.

Stood up to the storm we had camping in August on another bloody cliff top (seeing a pattern here!) and only damage this time was a single (old) split section.

Def cheaper than buying replacement threaded poles.

Lots of you tube videos on this .starr - that's my situation ,a split tube .

A nice shopper in Decathalon overheard my enquiries and he reckons gaffer tape will do it .
He'd just returned from France cycling and camping with wife and two preschoolers so I believe him !
