If anyone has any spare Avon Skin so Soft (which is an excellent mozzie repellant) could you please bring one for me! I left mine at home and it's so hot that there are lots of biters this year. I've ordered from Amazon to come here but it may take a week. Happy to pay with interest!

Aah, I hate mozzies! We're leaving early tomorrow am but I'll see what I can do, may get some for us too!

hillbilly · 06/08/2015 08:27

Thanks! I can't believe I forgot it. I have 3 bottles at home.

Hi hillbilly,
I have a friend who is a rep will buzz her today, we arrive Sunday.

Will Anything else do if I can't get hold of her?

Yay for sunshine though! Weather forecast is not looking as grim for next week as I thought. Won't pack quite so Many jumpers and slightly less chance of trench foot GrinGrin

hillbilly · 07/08/2015 09:48

Thanks holding. Not to worry if you can't get. I bought some repellent yesterday and hopefully my delivery from Amazon will arrive next Friday too.

No luck with the skin so soft Hillbilly Hmm

I can't use the usual repellent stuff so I've got cocoa butter and a strange aloe Vera deterrent ... And may well be covered in bites by Tuesday!

HairyMaclary · 08/08/2015 10:53

Weather v wet now though, mine and hillbilly's DC sat in car boot watching a film, I'm wrapped in sleeping bag doing my mindfulness colouring in!

I can be of no help whatsoever but I do love the idea of MNers having mini holiday meet ups :)

IAmAPaleontologist · 08/08/2015 11:17

Oooh I've just been googling the site, looks wonderful. I spent my childhood summers (each and every summer and Easter actually) in a tiny little village about an hour away from there in an old family house (great, great grandfather was the clog maker, great great grandmother ran the absinthe bar over the workshop). Lots of great things to do in the region. Might stick the website under dh's nose to think about next summer, my mum keeps pestering me to go for a holiday in the village with the kids but for various reasons I'm not keen to, I'd go to Les Valades though!

holdingontight · 11/08/2015 15:37

We arrived in all that Sunday rain!! Kids had slept much of the journey and woke to find it heaving down... All a bit fraught. Scoffed down a burger at the top managed to get tent pitched before dark and without killing DH (came close on both parts GrinGrin) and we are here now and.... Relax

All good on the mozzie front so far but i have been bitten by a wasp and dear god... But the (bastard) ants... There are millions of them!!! Not sure if our pitch is caught between 2 nests or if the problem is all over the site due to the v hot weather?..

We need to get chairs and another huge umbrella, poss a gazebo. Didn't think we would need chairs with the picnic table on our pitch but the ants are causing me to think different. No lounging around on picnic blankets for us!!

holdingontight · 11/08/2015 15:39

Me too to say which is the best local supermarket for extras like the? Super U in le bugue wasn't so well stocked as I remembered so am thinking leclerc or Carrefour... But which one! Any advice?

DreadfulSpiller · 11/08/2015 20:12

Reading with interest, well be there next week! Please tell me the ant problem isn't all over ... And if it is , any tips !!!?? Also, random question, what do u all (and DC) wear at night? Short/long pjs for kids? Thanks!

holdingontight · 14/08/2015 20:07

Hi Spilled.. It's been bloody wet here for a few days but the temp only really dropped today. Mine have been in PJ leggings and no tops but with a long sleeved top close by in case of cold.

Eves are colder than last year and am regretting not having another warm jumper with me. And a second spare hoodie for the DCs.

Ant problem may calm down now it's rained for a few days, I've got cinnamon and cornflour which apparently are good deterrents. Will get back to you on that one WinkGrin seriously hoping for more sun so the DCs can be shoved outside when the wind-up hour begins!!

Hairy, Hillbilly are you still here? Definitely a few more Brits on site this year and quite a few MNers I reckon GrinGrinGrin

profpoopsnagle · 15/08/2015 07:06

Hi Holding - sorry I missed all these messages. We tend to go to the Carrefour in Siorac unless we are passing somewhere else. We do have a few ants (but hopefully not on a nest). I appreciated the first cooler day but it could do to warm up again now! Spilled, we wearing long PJs but have a light duvet/sleeping bags.

HairyMaclary · 16/08/2015 20:28

Yes, hillbilly and I are still here, we're leaving tomorrow morning though, hillbilly here for a few more days.

Weather has been disappointing, in the 10 days we've been here only 3 hot days, today was ok and tomorrow looks better, just a shame we have to go! Come and say hello though, we are pitches 57 and 58.

millimat · 22/08/2015 21:40

Sorry I've only just noticed this and had spare skin so soft! Did the cinnamon and cornflour work?

hillbilly · 25/08/2015 14:15

No problem - I actually ordered some from Amazon which arrives a few days later - although by then it had cooled down and mozzies were no longer a problem.

We got home last Friday after an amazing and lazy time. Hope everyone who is still there is enjoying the sun!
