Hi can anyone recommend a campsite within about an hour of Chester? I'm not too bothered about loads of facilities but would definitely want showers

No idea about campsites near Chester, but you can search UKCampsite by map and they have thorough reviews from campers. UKCampsite

Yes, Fron Farm in Mold, Fish pool farm & Lady Heyes. I think Lady Heyes is Frodsham. Fish pool near Delamere I think.
I've only stayed at Fron Farm. Lady Heyes kept being recommended by people on threads recommending campsite near Chester/Manchester.
There are reviews for all of those on UK campsite
