Hi
I'd like to book a campsite for the last week in July, in Devon or Cornwall preferably within walking distance of a beach and not too commercial. Would be great is we could have camp fires. I'm getting a bit snow-blind looking at so many campsites, so thought I'd ask for recommendations on here. Thanks so much.

Slapton Sands in Devon is great. Walking distance to beach and not at all commercial - they's just a shop and a children's play area. Views of the sea.

We went last year and the kids had a blast. Loads of children in the site to play with, and a beautiful area with lots to do.

No campfires though, I don't think. It's a camping club site.

Trevella Park in Cornwall is nice - and it used to be very pared back and uncommercial (haven't been for a few years now, hopefully it hasn't changed much).

Might be a but commercial for you as part of a small caravan park but we like Sandymouth near Bude. It's just a big field with a fabulous view with loos and showers but a short walk to use the indoor pool and play area. There's a clubhouse if you fancy buying food and a low key kids club to kill an hour on rainy days. Once you're in the field you wouldn't know the facilities are there. Very cheap.

There is an NT beach a steep walk away. It's pebbles down to the high tide mark then sand. Loads of rock pools. We drove down as have NT membership for the car park. Didn't fancy dragging tired DC and kit back up the hill to the site.

Blocks are provided on request for BBQs and we stuck our fire pit on one of these.

Padstow Touring Park is nice, fabs views, walking distance to Padstow, driving distance to lots of places and site facilitiea are good. We went there a few years ago and going back this year.

Treloan on the Roseland, in fact there are lots of lovely sites on the Roseland - v u spoilt. I like Kennack sands on the lizard, Trevedra at Sennen and the site at St just (but that is not walkable to the beach).
