Im looking for a quiet campsite with a playground and easy access to a lake or beach. Were quite happy doing our own thing and would prefer not to have evening entertainment as DS is 4 and needs his sleep otherwise becomes very grumpy! Some local cycle paths would be nice, but not essential.

Any recommendations?

What area are you looking for? We stayed at Camping Les Grennettes on the Ile de Re which was about two minutes walk from a lovely, empty sandy beach. We didn't do any cycling but Ile de Re is full of cycle routes.

Thank you - just what we were looking for and they still have availability for the summer! :0)

Hi Asheth,

Can I ask if the main road caused any disturbance re: noise? The campsite has just confirmed that the only available pitches are along back fence nearby the main road running through the island.

Thanks

I don't remember any traffic noise but we were camping on the sea side of the site.

The island is busy in the summer but the roads didn't seem too busy once we were away from the bridge.

We have stayed at l'atlantique in Brittany near Beg-Meil.

It is a mixture of camping spots and caravans. But it was clean and quiet even in August.

Lots of cycle paths along to nearby towns and nice walk to an undeveloped beach.
