Separate groundsheet

So, as per previous thread bought a second hand Khyam in brilliant condition, it looks really good and it was MUCH less than we were thinking of spending on a new tent (but couldn't really afford this year) so we're not too bothered if it's only for a season or two. For this reason I put aside my doubts about a tent with a separate ground sheet. The sleeping pod has a sewn in sheet so I figured we'd be fine, however, having thought about it I'm getting a little apprehensive. Are we going to be wet, freezing and covered in beasties? We always keep the sleeping areas zipped up so hoping that will be fine but how do people find water ingress into the living area? Do we need waterproof clothes storage?
Also....(thicko question alert) do we just peg the sheet down then pitch on top? Is there anything special we should be doing?

Depending on the particular design you may find that the groundsheet only covers the area not covered by your bedrooms, so lay it after erection.
You will be fine. There are pros and cons with loth designs but advantages of the separate groundsheet include but are not limited to: less condensation: easier to clean out on strike day, easier to get a breeze through on a really hot day, air definitely less stale by morning compared to a sealed tent full of kids.
We have both types of tent, but certainly wouldn't be put off by separate groundsheet. Enjoy your lovely holidays!
