trailer advice

We've decided to invest in some camping equipment and we are going to need a trailer.
Part of me thinks the car boot - focus - will be be big enough for clothes for 5 and bits of food and odds and ends but the majority of things will need to be in a trailer. We are looking at an 8 man tent plus cooker plus airbeds plus all the rest of it.

Can anyone give me some advice on the size of trailer to get - dh thinks 6x4 but that's huge (and expensive) and I've seen some much cheaper but they are 4x3! Thanks

Bigger is better! You will take more and more each year. We have a Brenderup 1205 with high sides and an ABS lid, I think it is 6 x 4. Family of 3 with a decent sized tent and all the paraphernalia to go with it.

We have everything in the trailer, the car is empty which you will really appreciate. It is just us and the dog in the car with plenty of room, not like the trips I remember as a child at all!

Really useful as we leave everything in there during the camping season and just add food and clothes and go.

Have a look at the trailer threads on UK Campsite - no one ever suggests buying a small one.

The cost will take care of itself over a couple of years.

That's great thanks - we were thinking we would leave it all in the trailer so we were ready to go etc!

We have a trailer - our bikes go on that and all our camping equipment inside. It's an Erde 122 with a hard cover. I wish (x 1,000) that we'd gone for bigger but there is quite a difference in price. We use ours all the time (not just for camping but weekends away, collecting stuff, etc oh and storage during the winter!)
I would go as big as you can bear/afford.

When I say our bikes go on it - the bike racks are on top of the trailer hardtop. (Blush sorry if that didn't need explaining)

Ours is big and deep. It's metal framed with some kind of wood sides and a soft cover. It cost about £500 4 years ago.

Get as big as you can.
