Has anyone been to Low Wray NT campsite in the Lake District?

What is the difference between the different pitches?

Are the lakeside and lake view pitches worth paying almost twice as much for?

Yes and we have always booked a water front pitch - amazing view across the lake and only our canoe between us and the water.

I can't remember what the other pitches are like.

We did have someone pitch between us and the water one year and the NT staff were really ineffectual.

I think the prices are extortionate and wouldn't bother if everyone else didn't love it even though the view is great.

The difference? About £30! Boom Boom!

I'm considering going for a couple of days en route to Scotland, so would like to hear any comments too.

I would go for either lakeside or lake view or a woodland spot. It's lovely but expensive but they are nice, marked pitches. I wouldn't bother with just the "standard" field pitches, they're nothing special and still not cheap.
It is expensive but we go most years because it's lovely, nice facilities, can book online etc.

I thought it was a lovely site, but sooooooooooooo pricey! The lakeside or lake view pitches have amazing views, but weigh that up against the threat of mozzies and ducks coming into your test - duck poo all over the ground sheet yuk!
Also, we couldn't park near the tent so had to carry all our stuff - difficult without a DP or a wheelbarrow and a very heavy tent.
