Easter camping. Madness? And with dog?

We have a vocal and v active 8 month old rescue spaniel and would love to go away with him at Easter.
Wales or the lake district appeal but anywhere really. Our pre-dog holidays would be camping (not at Easter) or youth hostels.
I'm trying to get my head around how this could work.
Camping - dog sleep in the car? I'm worried he might wake other campers though. He's not crate trained (tried, he hated it and escaped when it was locked shut). It could be freezing! (Have an electric oil-filled heated, so could do electric hook up)
Youth hostel? Camping pods and the like? (Any that allow dogs?)
What other places have you stayed? The more specific the better! We are 2 kids and me + dog.
Does using a kennel nearby purely for overnight and collecting him each morning sound crazy?
I can't get my head around how this would all work so any advice gratefully received.
Thanks!

Start getting the dog used to car boot as a place to hang out, mine love the boot so will stay over night in it very merrily. Or just bring them in the tent...we do this too though less now they love the boot so much.

If dog stays in car check where you are in relation to car, sone sites have parking in a main car park rather than next to tent which could be a problem (if neurotic like me:)

Youth hostels aren't dog friendly AFAIK, most pods aren't either and even if they are you dog will shit on their carpet so camp in your tent!

You definitely need a prong thingy that sticks in the ground so you can tether dog outside tent, an emergency bag of cleaning stuff and rubber gloves (optimist me...) and you will be fine. Using a kennel overnight sounds expensive and a pain especially if you are aiming to repeat this.

My top tip would be dont camp where there is a duck pond...nearly killed our dog who stayed in a state of over excitement for the whole time.
