compost toilets

We're going camping on a lovely site, But its very 'back to nature' which means they've only got compost toilets.
That's the only part I'm not looking forward to. Has anyone been on a site where they had compost toilets? Are they as bad as I'm imagining? Blush

They don't smell because the compost covers what you do and masks it. Much much nicer than long drops or chem loos.

We have one at our community gardens. No smell apart from when men wee the wrong way.

Compost toilets are fine. And much better than plastic chemical toilets.

Take many packs of baby wipes: sometimes there is no hand washing tap right by the toilet.

We have stayed on a few sites with compost toilets, they have been fine. You might add be asked to add a scoop full of shavings if they have them, in which case it will smell of pine shavings.

They usually have hand sanitizer available ime and provide loo roll (or an outside tap for hand washing).

Better than the nasty elsan smell or whatever it is called.
