Child friendly festivals 2015 - advice pls?

Hi everyone,

Am going to take the children to a festival this summer for the first time (they will be 5.8 and 2.9). Currently haven't made final decision as to which one but considering Camp Bestival, Shambala, Greenbelt, Stanton Calling and Larmer Tree.

I am not that fussed about it being "really cool music festival" - the kids are desperately keen and am happy to take them to a child-focused one. A large part of me thinks as it's my first festival with them to go for Camp Bestival as it's a "safe" option?

If we do go to Bestival - we have an Emperor Bell tent (6m x 4m) - and are thinking of doing Camping plus.

1. is it worth it?
2. is one pitch going to be big enough? (I'd rather not get two tbh due to cost)

Camp Bestival is amaZing!! We've never done camping plus - just the normal one.

We've just booked camping plus for camp bestival and a bit worried about pitch size. The pitches are 7 x 5. The tent I want to buy is 4.5 x 7.25 without guy ropes - oops. Luckily we are in a group of 4 so I can nick some space from them.

I second Just So, we took DD last year when she would have been 2.5 and she loved it!!! And honestly, so did we.

We are based in SW London - am I right in thinking Just So is somewhere up north? (My brain is a muddle of festivals), and I think that is why it's not on the list as would rather not do too long a journey if possible.

Chilled in a Field is a lovely little family festival near Lewes in East Sussex. It won gold for best family festival last year, and silver the year before.

I trade at family festivals and can confirm camp bestival is a good one, it's big but lots f free stuff for kids and a great line up this year.
Just so is much smaller but a nice woodland type family event with more spirit and less people and entertainment.
Jamies at the farm is a nice family one too.
Cornbury and womad are nice smaller ones too.

We love Jimmy's Sausage and Beer festival at his farm near Ipswich. Quite small but lots for the kids. Great last year and going again this year - first weekend of school holidays.

I would second Chilled in a Field as a great little festival (albeit I missed last year). If you want something a little larger, Elderflower Fields Festival on the second May bank holiday is a good one for children too. It is down Tunbridge Wells way.

I second Elderlower Fields. If you want low key and easy with kids and they love the outdoors and adventure then there are very few festivals with such a great space for kids to roam free.
