Essential kit for caravanning?

We have just bought our first caravan, having had to finally give up our beloved VW camper after over 20 years of veedubbing.

It's a vintage model (1979) so pretty basic, no hot water, heater or shower - which is fine, as we're used to that anyway with the VWs - but in amazing condition, having been owned by one family, used only for two weeks every summer and dry stored for it's whole life.

It's come with quite a few bits and pieces. Step, water and waste water containers, old portaloo (will be replacing with a modern one) and two awnings - plus an original 1970's melaware dinner service. Grin Not exactly sure what else there is as we haven't had chance to spend any time on it since we bought it a few weeks ago.

We're paying to keep it in it's original storage, but it's finally coming home this weekend for us to play with it give it a good clean.

We'd like to get set up so we can just grab food and clothes and go and I'd be really grateful if someone could offer advice as to what sort of things they keep in their van so that they can get away at short notice, without too much hassle.

We're planning on keeping it vintage, so have been perusing Ebay for various bits of 70s brown and orange camping paraphernalia to go with the original interior, but what kitchen equipment do you keep in the van - other than the obvious: kettle, couple of saucepans, frying pan, tea towels, cups, glasses, cutlery, can-opener and of course the essential corkscrew? Grin

Finally, I would ideally like to do crock-pot style cooking while we're away and have been looking at both the Wonderbag and Mr D's Thermal Cooker as a way of having a hot meal ready in the evening using as little energy as possible. Does anyone have any thoughts on which of these is the better option?
