recommendations for birthday camping

Next June is a significant birthday for me, and I'd like to get a group of friends together for a camping weekend. Needs to be kid friendly (1 - 12) and ideally pretty relaxed, so campfires and pitch anywhere rather than marked out spots. Ideally within an hour of the m25.

Can anyone recommend anywhere??

We're in a rather similar position, except the significant birthday is (I suspect) a higher number than OPs (as children will be virtually all teenagers), and we need it to be nearish J14 of M4.

TIA

Paneer I would second Town farm. Which side of the M25 do you need. forgewoodcamping.co.uk/ also fantastic and good for groups.

They both look brilliant thank you.

I would really recommend Inwood, part of the CampingUnplugged group. Less than 10 mins from J6 of M3.

Forgewood is a great option definitely, but I would also consider Park Farm near Bodiam, particularly if you think you may like to be a bit noisier then normal in the evenings. Park Farm has more rules about noise/behaviour than it used to (it used to be like camping in a nightclub sometimes) but it is still pretty relaxed compared to some sites and gets a lot of large groups camping.

It also has a lovely walk along the river/stream to the Castle (or, if you prefer, to the Castle pub).
