Camping in October-are we mad?!

Not sure where yet, we are tagging onto the in-laws holiday. I'm a bit concerned it may be too cold for 2 year old ds. I'm tempted to see if there is a b&b close by when we know where we are going!

We have just come back from a camping trip, it was 6 degrees one night and we didn't sleep as too cold (dc's did but we were panicking all night they were too cold)
However, it has always been freakishly warm when we have camped before, so we weren't prepared - will be next time!
I would go in October, but take lots of jumpers & thermals!

The only time I've ever camped in October we had an air bed with sheet over, sleeping bags, pillows and a double duvet (plus some spare blankets just in case) and we were toasty warm however that was just me and DH though, not sure I'd do it with dc as like pp said, would be worrying all night if they were too cold

Easier to prep for than summer. Layers and layers and down all in one for toddler plus good sleeping bags and water proofs. You will get the site pretty much to yourself and it is fun. We are already booked:)

We are off to of the NT sites in the Lake District at October half term (which is the last week here) - never had EHU either so layers and layers and layers. We will take our warmest bags and probably a couple of quilts too, with hats and thermals we will be fine. I find woollen sweaters warmer than fleece when camping - not sure why and could just be me!

I used to find it hard to keep my daughter in her sleeping bag when she was little - those fleece onesies are fantastic for when they get their upper body out of their bag.

I have just bought a little catalytic heater (never had a heater before) which we will use sparingly if we have to to take the chill off the tent when we get back to it.

I will make sure I have a list of indoor things to do if necessary .... but it is all fairly remote so that could be tricky!

If you have an electric hook up you might want to take a fan heater.
It made such a difference.
