What is the bathmat for?

I've been reading the "9 most useful camping things" list on MN, and yes, of course ikea bags and glow sticks, but I'm feeling a bit dim as I can't work out what the bathmat is for. How does it stop the groundsheet getting soggy? Will someone enlighten me please?

Acts as a doormat for people walking in from outside (esp if rainy) in wet shoes? Buy a dark colour I guess and hot-wash it when you get home.

I think people take them to use in the shower block .

I used one in our tent ( tail end of Hurricane Bertha ,elderly tent ) to catch drips from a leak . Very absorbent and with waterproof backing didn't penetrate to sleeping bag .

They act as doormats when it's raining (or even from early morning dew) and they keep your groundsheet dry.

I bought some cheapy Primark ones when we were in Scotland last year. I think I got 4 as they were £2 each in the sale. They were great as they wash and dry easily.
