Evening Chills

On my first ever camping trip in July the only thing that I had a problem with was keeping warm in the evening once it had got dark but before getting into bed (which was toasty).

I wore a thermal top and leggings with PJs over the top a fleece and lightweight waterproof jacket. On reflection I should have packed a hat but wondered if anyone had good tips for keeping warm while sitting in the tent of an evening.

How would you feel about a onesie? Proper toastiness from thermals plus onesie, fluffy socks, hat and down gilet! Looks awful but it will be dark and anything goes when camping Grin

Thermals, change of socks, get in sleeping bag, down jacket for top half.

Always change your socks - even if you think they're dry, they're not. Thick wool hiking socks, or knitted wool bed socks. Or both.

Also, a nice mug of wine.

  1. An Ikea Ludde sheepshin lining your moon chair.
  1. Only camp on sites which allow fires.
  1. Don't get cold. Layer up before the chill creeps in.

Snuggle up with a nice fluffy hot water bottle.

Why would you sit inside the tent though? When I'm in the tent before sleeping I'm always in my sleeping bag reading, listening to iPod etc lying down
Then I don't get cold
