Ill equipped camper - what do we need?

We are camping for one night on a campsite. Our friends are camping in their camper van nearby (in garden of a holiday cottage) so we are hoping that they will kindly help out with main meals etc.

We have a 3 person pop up tent, sleeping mats, sleeping bags etc but nothing else. Our tent has no living area. Camp site is basic but does have a little café which does bacon rolls, teas, coffees although am not sure when it opens.

What else do we need. Do we need a camping stove/ cool box or anything else really? We only have a little car so cannot fill it with mountains of gubbins.

I thought maybe torches would be handy plus obviously rain wear and clothes.

Its me plus 2 DCs (10 & 12 y/o).

Will we survive without being able to even make a cup of tea for ourselves?

Small stove and kettle for tea/ coffee unless you can manage without.
Freeze a pint of milk or buy long life stuff. Variety boxes of cereal if necessary- open up, pour in milk and eat from the bag (this may actually be DS's favourite part of non-glamping camping :o)
Snacks for in between meals- DS eats like a locust when we camp.
Some sort of chair/ stool/ picnic rug.
Entertainment for DC's, whether that's a football and a pack of cards or an iPad and portable DVD player.
Water carrier or large mineral water bottle.

I'm also doing an overnighter Saturday. Meeting up with someone who is staying at a campsite.
I'm just taking my easy up tent, bed, sleeping bag and pillows.
A couple of little lights for the guys (very basic dark campsite at night)
A LED for inside the tent & a gas light for outside.

For hot drinks I'm taking my jetboil zip ( a present from my SIL ) takes up barely any space and some instant coffee. (I drink black coffee).

Aside from that, just washing stuff, towel, change of clothes and make up. I figure anything to eat will have to be bought, as it's overnight someone else can wash up the dinnerware I use.

I too am taking a small car (a mini convertible). I have promised to take my unused porta potti and leave it with the other person as they could make good use of it, ( have a camper van, but no loo ). This itself will probably have to be on the front seat as it won't fit in the tiny boot...

I think as long as you can sleep warm & dry you won't need much else to keep you happy.

Have fun.

Am loving the milk in variety box cereal idea. Will look up jet boil zip. Was thinking body board might double up as good things to sit on.
