So bloody typical all of this lovely weather and as of next week there is a threat of a summer 'potential hurricane' storm. Do I just ring up and cancel Sad

we're heading to north norfolk tomorrow, forecast is grim Sad mind you, this is the 4th time we've been to the same campsite and its rained every time, only saving grace is we're just going for 3 nights, so can always pack up and come home if its really bad.

The forecast keeps changing from rain to just clouds. Clouds I can deal with, rain is annoying when it's been such lovely weather

I'm doing an overnighter on my own ( but meeting up with someone at the site ) Saturday night.

Weather forecast says localised flooding Friday, so guess I won't need rock pegs....
Weather Saturday looks fine but Sunday doesn't .....

The pub at St Column is ace if you need food and warmth - fire will be on on cold summer days! There is a great circular walk (I know... Not boring as sounds Grin) starting at Bedruthan steps that gives you the magnificence of the steps without the steep walk down... Best local pasties are from Crantock

Fave local beach is Crantock but do not swim in river only sea as river is treacherous. We also like mawgan Porth and the garage does ace pizza takeaway for impromptu beach picnic :)

Take a disposable BBQ to little fistral beach, nr Newquay, one eve with an incoming tide. Take body boards if you have them.

This best surf school - by far - is Falmouth surf school that runs out of Porthtowan beach 2-3 hr lessons excellent value, beach is great & the blue bar is fab as is the ice cream parlour Grin

Padstow busy but great evening fish n chip harbour destination GrinSmileGrin

Camel trail cycling amazing hire from wadebridge, ride to padstow and back

Of all local attractions I rate creally, trethorne and paradise park.

Oh and for local pub vibe try Blisland... Might not be your thing but as it sounds it is beautiful. Pub does ale to Carry out, few tables outside and a big green for kids to play on while you chill

Cardinham woods nr Bodmin, fab new bike trail there are iron BBQs by the river there just take coals and food WinkGrinSmile

Erm.. May have overloaded dorry about that hope you find some of this useful :)

Stars66 · 10/08/2014 19:57

Well, we survived the storm, felt like the tent was going to take off at some points and it was certainly that wet rain!
Hope safe warm and dry now Grin

Dickorydockwhatthe · 11/08/2014 10:37

Oh fab I was querying about paradise park and loving the bbq near cardinal woods. Well most definitely try the camel trail feeling excited now lol

update from cromer, we went on friday, got the tent pitched ok but at 1am it was lashing it down and strong winds. its a dome tent and one of the bedroom pods collapsed, we moved the car to try and use it as a wind break to protect the tent. by 3am, we were outside getting soaked again going to the aid of a lady nearby as her tent started to collapse with her kids inside. others on the site had to sleep in their cars as their tents flooded. weather improved on saturday and we got on the beach, but i wanted to pack up and head home early saturday evening but was outvoted.

got to say 'i told you so' on sunday though as it rained off and on all morning, we were just about to head off to blickling hall when a thunderstorm started, by which point i had enough and started packing.

Dickorydockwhatthe · 12/08/2014 00:07

Oh no niper that sounds awful. God I am scared of going now eek. Maybe we should invest in a camper van lol

Dickory I am at trewan now, weather not been bad and the site is sheltered so the wind hasn't been a problem for me.
