Long time camper here but find ourselves in a bit of a situation. Staying in Pembrokeshire for the week and possibly have to extend our stay en route back to London. We have SO much camping kit in London but nothing with us and might have to stay for a couple of nights somewhere in between for the weekend. So either Bath or along M4 corridor and would need to be glamping or somewhere with pods. Preferably allow fires. Thanks my lovely MN camping friends!

This place is near bath, but I've never been! theblackberriescampingpark.co.uk

EEek! If all else fails, when I was yomping around Europe with dtds I budgeted for Travelodge type hotels if everything went tits up. Had to do it one night when we got seriously thunderstormed in Jura mountains, and also the night we got terminally lost near Nimes ... There are travelodges in motorway service stations on M4, will check online for availability for you if you like. xx

Hi Hillbilly

I've had a look at the couple sites I know of nr bath and illminster but they are all booked out...I think we are having such fab weather people are glamping as a way of trying out camping and these sites are much busier than usual. Certainly they are down here in Cornwall!

I would second the travelodge option, there are a couple nr Bath or Taunton.. I think you could probably find a site that would be able to find a tent for you among its shed of discarded camping kit and a throw away BBQ would feed you but you would be stuffed for a cuppa and something to sleep in! Bit further west than you are looking for but Cwm Tawel near Bridgend is amazing and you don't need to take anything with you. Only thing extra you need to reserve is bed linen. They have an outdoor kitchen with everything you could need, an amazing outdoor fire pit and pizza oven - we stayed there earlier this year and loved it.

Nearest m4 junction is 36, it's not too far from the motorway as I remember but the site feels totally isolated.

There are a couple in the Forest of Dean:

THanks everybody. I've looked at some glamping sites and it's so expensive we may just stay put here in a B and B.

yha? although the price per night is not so different from a B&B, the big advantage is that you can self cater.
