Holiday Traffic

Hi, we are looking to go camping this weekend. Just how bad does the traffic get on the route down to Dorset from Southampton, about 4pm on the first weekend of the school holidays?

I live in Dorset and occasionally have to traverse the A35 on a Friday afternoon. It is generally nose to tail, moving slowly ifthere's no accidents, completely static if there are
The big issue comes when two lanes go into one and the traffic bottlenecks as there are a lot of single carriageway sections once you pass through the New Forest.
