New tent might be needed...

After spending two nights in a tent and waking up to a huge rain puddle in the living space, I am a tiny bit nervous of doing two weeks in said tent in a few weeks time. I think I might be in the market for a new tent.

Here are the things I'd like out of my tent.

  1. Must be tall enough to stand up in.
  2. Must have sewn in groundsheet, or at least bucket clip in.
  3. I'd like a living area if possible.

Budget is as low as possible.

Any bright ideas?

What berth do you need?

Greenandcabbagelooking · 20/07/2014 19:29

Oh yeah, that would help! There's just me mostly, so smaller the better but must be tall which rules out many smaller tents.

Could you re waterproof your current tent?

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 20/07/2014 20:05

Or if not, how tall are you?

It's not the waterproofing, it's a structural issue. Water was coming in where the clip-up groundsheet meets the flysheet. Or doesn't meet as the case may be. I have put it up since and it still leeks.

I'm 5'6 and a half.

Would something like this fit the bill?

It has come down to the Hi Gear Aura 3 (£140) or the Regatta Premium 2 (£100). Which would you go for? Can get both from shops today.

Never had a Hi Gear tent but have got a lot of their kit...well used and reliable...if that helps at all!!
The Hi Gear looks roomier but the Regatta has a wee nifty rain canopy over the door. hhhmmm...still think I'd go for the HiGear!

Think I'd go for the extra bit of space in the hi gear, though the regatta is a good price with the carpet included too.

If necessary you could get the porch as an extra at a later date with the hi gear, and any old blanket will do if you like a soft floor.
