Somewhere to stop between Lyon area and calais?

We're off the the Jura in a few weeks. Staying at Troyes on the way down - like to stop and explore new areas. In Jura for 11 nights. We've 2 nights spare on the way back. Our original thought was to stop near Paris and visit parc asterix, but actually that's a very hectic day after a day driving and more driving to follow the next day in returning to England.
So, where can people recommend that's a lovely place to visit that's pretty much en route back with things to explore?

Somewhere around Dijon?
I have vague memories of a eurocamp site at Lac de Panthier.
Beaune is lovely or you could look around Beaujolais.

Could you come back up through the Vosges area. Watching it on the TV for the Tour de France it looked lovely around Gerardmer.

Are you staying at Camping des Troyes OP? We had a few nights there about 5 years ago, it's a lovely site, the swimming pool was very welcome after a long drive up from Provence.
How close to Calais do you want to be, do you want to set yourself up for a short drive at the end or do you want to be further away and have to drive for 5-6 hours?

We stayed at a campsite last year called Haut des Bluches in La Bresse - it's in a lovely setting in the Vosges mountains. We're going back this year. It might be a bit of a detour for the OP though?

Or you could come back via Paris and explore Fontainebleau?

La bresse looks too far out for us. I'd prefer a short drive to Calais after this stopover.

Thanks for your suggestions. Most seem too far south tbh. Can't find out a huge amount about Fontainebleau. Any more suggestions?

We are off to Fontainebleau tomorrow OP, we go to Font at least once a year to boulder (rock climbing) which is what we spend the majority of our time doing. If that's not your thing then following one of the many walks around the forest is an option as is a visit to the chateau, which is a full day out in itself. It's huge and the gardens are too, but apart from that I find the town of Font a bit meh. There is a fantastic base de loisir at Buthiers or if the weather is rubbish we have visited the Playmobil Funpark, it's only about 30mins up the A6 and 2.5 euro each to get in. Probably not much good for older DC though. There are also very frequent trains into Paris from Font/Avon station but I find the city too busy at this time of year.
This camp site just south of Font is nice, it's basic (no pool, small kids play area) but in a lovely setting close to the river. We haven't stayed here for a few years but a lot of our climbing friends still use it and say it's still quiet and clean.
If we are staying further north than this on the way home we tend to just stay in a hotel so I can't recommend anything closer to Calais I'm afraid.

We're doing about 5 nights in Font next month here then heading east. (We looked at the one Vindscreenviper suggests but went for the one with a pool since our entire holiday is hundreds of miles from seaside and felt sorry for DC!) All the bouldering gear is coming with us though. Have a nice time VV

That campsite looks lovely, have you stayed there before?
We are over the other side of the forest, 10mins. walk to the Elephant and Dame Jouanne, setting off in 2 hours & getting very excited
I need to go and find the slackline now, it hasn't been seen since last year!
