Decent grills for campfire cooking?

But not a Perfect Campfire Grill, as they are out of stock until they find a new supplier... Even sold out in the States, where they're made. Gutted, as I'd decided that their Pioneer grill was just the thing for me.

So. Now that I can't have one of those (sob) does anyone have any other suggestions for old-school grills, maybe one with fold out legs, or I might consider a tripod.... Help me spend, happy campers!

Afraid I just use a handheld basket grill thing. Large one from Tesco if for the whole family and if I'm doing small stuff or just for DH and I then I use this... tinyurl.com/nju2b4h

Ooh that does look good Claire (guessed there should be an extra C added to the beginning of the link as it didn't have one), might well tide me over, together with ancient trangia and time honoured wrapped-in-foil-in-embers technique, till the Perfect Grill folk get their act together..

I also wanted the Campfire Grill but was worried that the ground would need to be perfect for it to be stable. Tend to use a Dutch Oven a lot so would need to be super confident my 'one pot wonders' weren't going to end up spilled in the ash!!!

So where do you put the dutch oven? Right on/in the fire, or on a grill? Am guessing they're pretty heavy things...

I build the base of the campfire with a smaller stone ring inside it to one side (like a wonky snowman) then nestle the Dutch oven into it...that way my 'one pot wonder' isn't dislodged!! If on a 'no fire' site then I use this and pop it on top. (We are kit junkies!!) tinyurl.com/ot42wa5
