Help me decide between 2 Devon sites - my brain's frazzled!

Ok so after having a large G&T after working out that the channel crossing Portsmouth-Caen would cost us over £600 , we've decided to go for one more year of camping in England.

I've just booked 8 days at Trevornick in Cornwall and now want another 10 days in South Devon - nearer the end of the M5.

Soooo, do we go for Ross Park where they can only put us in the 'leisure field' i.e where the ball games are/ bicycles are allowed.....but it looks a fantastic site.

OR do we go for \link{http://www.coftonholidays.co.uk/about/Cofton Park} bigger site but with a swimming pool which the dd's will adore.

I fried my brain last night thinking about this so i desperately need some input.

Now you're nearer my patch - grew up in Somerset

From those, I'd go for Cofton, based purely on location. I know the beaches there. they're excellent.

When is it you're going Lucy?

I've never stayed in the caravan park but Woodland leisure park is great & you get free entry whenever you like

Cofton Park we just been there and it was very well looked after site altho it's big. Dawlish is lovely too, great beach when are you going?

i have been to cofton and woodlands both are noisy but woodlands noisier.(both peak summer) Woodlands is fab for any children over 2 plus dh and 10 yr old loved it - we were exhausted at end of week and left a day early. Plus woodlands have family shower rooms which are really good for small children

We're now thinking of Dornafield, still in a similar area, but a bit 'posher' - we're going for the all action/busier site in Trevornick so dh and I fancy a few trees and some peace and quiet we might well need it and the dd's are happy playing 'in nature' too.

Has anyone been to Dornafield? I phoned to get a brochure and didn't feel like a second class citizen because we were campers - I felt like that a bit when I spoke to Ross Park!

no idea I'm afrid - just wanted to say I got all excited when I saw you had booked Trevornick. I've had lots of fun there over the years

See, you want to go \here{http://www.woodfarm.co.uk/\ Wood farm} if you fancy something a bit more posh! Lovely indoor pool (small charge), loads of trees, the best toilet block I ever saw, in a very nice quiet seaside village, near Lyme Bay.

We've spent our last two summers near Lyme Regis and were seriously thinking of Wood Farm, but hen decided to brave the journey to Cornwall for a change - we love Lyme Regis though - we couldn't believe the work that they'd done this year on the sea defences - the sandy beach is gorgeous!

Have you thought about next year yet?

Yep, Pentewan in the Summer; Cheddar for Whitsun (kids love the fish and the parrot), Ffestiniog (sp) fo0r my birthday in July, and at least one, maybe two C&CC sites

Dawlish is al;ways a good bet in Devon, as is Teignmouth, though TBH a bit less 'up amerket' (snort) than lyme. DH grew up near Lyme 9in Chard) so that's why we often go there, though.

Woolacombe: sis stayed here, has a good rep, fabulous beach

We were booked here two weeks ago, but Dh's blinkin work cancelled all leave. Owner was fab, really helpful. Know the area well 9son't miss the trams, not that you can LOL) and there si a small farm on site that the kids can help with.

We went to Woolacombe pre dd's and stayed up at Mortehoe - fabulous views across the bay, but veeerryyyy slopey as it was on the cliff tops. we could just about manage to find a flat bit for our two man tent! don't think our Colorado would stand a chance

Are you going to the site in Beddgelert that mb went to, our one nearer Ffestiniog?

it was great. The kids loved the stream running through the campsite.

If you like to get your kids to bed before 10.30, get a pitch away from the playground, as it is 'well used' up to that time....quiet afterwards.

midges were bad though

dh has decided (and I agree) that whitsen should be a holiday when we go somewhere new to us, so that we get to explore the UK. So much to see , so few holidays

I agree too, we never (or very rarely) visit the same site twice as they hardly ever live up to the first time.

We're undecided about Whit too but dh doesn't like to travel too far - so possibly the Lakes this year - trouble is we are suckers for the Lleyn!

Better go and drag the dd's away from 'Barbie as the Nutcracker' and put them to bed!
