Camping table and chairs

What do you do? I hate those chairs/bench table combo's - look v uncomfortable and DH is 6'5" so it will be horrible for him to have to eat at that.

I'm going to find a sturdy table from camping store, but it's the chairs I want to ask about. I want them to be used for eating around table, but be comfy enough for lounging in in the evenings.

Help!

Hmm I have concluded that there are too many compromises involved in a chair suited to sitting at the table and evening lounging. We've opted to go all-out on evening lounge comfort with moon chairs, and use compact simple fold-up stools at the table.

We went to a camping shop and went for what we found comfy. DS and DH have folding pop up sort of chairs. (Impossible to eat at a table!) We have folding chairs too.
I have a Lafuma comfy chair!!

I don't think there is a chair that does both. Lounging comfort far more important when camping imo Wink. We have loungy chairs that are fine for eating a bowl of cereal or a bacon butty of a morning, but most other meals we all just sit on a picnic rug or the grass, much easier.

Are you near a Go Outdoors we vought a folding table and bench set for meals and separate chairs for the evening they were pretty cheap and the table folds up witg the benches inside - they aren't attached though as we were worried too about that idea!

ViviPru · 02/07/2014 09:46

Yes I pretty much concur with Gobblers we rarely sit up at the table, and wholeheartedly agree that "Lounging comfort far more important when camping".

And with that in mind you can't go far wrong with these... Outwell moon chairs.

I've got a similar set up to vivipru. Our table is from vango with 4 stools that fold up within it. I've seen similar take tables from kampa I think

Decathlon have a fold up table and stool set, very good!

VivaLeBeaver · 04/07/2014 19:23

What Vivipru said. Stools and a table. Moon chairs.

Ha! We went for the folding table with 2 separate benches last year and it was a bit of a mare. The table was too small to eat at comfortably and our chairs were way comfier than the benches which we ended up using as wee tables in the tent. We've gone for a bigger table to eat at this year and will stick with the camping chairs. We eat round the table for pretty much every meal and it worked fine. DH and I have coleman sling chairs (a wee bit pricey but dead comfy even after 2 weeks) and the girls have cheapo fold up ones from tesco.

We have a decathlon table with very simple fold out backless chairs (that store inside the table) plus 'normal' chairs for lounging..

We have a table which can be dining or coffee table sized and two very comfortable folding camp chairs. Evening time or relaxing time I use the kid's bog standard camping chairs as foot rests. It is surprisingly comfortable. The deluxe camp chairs have higher backs and I can stretch out nicely.

This year we bought the kids a blow up sofa to encourage them to leave us their chairs nice and quickly!

I'm still kicking myself for not buying the folding camp chairs with foot rests when I had the chance. They weren't even expensive. the chairs also reclined. I have never seen them again. Sad

I have a bad back and I bought these last year - they are so fabulously comfy to sit in I can't begin to describe it, yet also at the right height to sit up at a camping table for dinner.

We use them with our cheapy Tesco folding camping table (that comes with 4 tiny folding stools for people with tiny fairy bottoms, which I now use as footrests) and they're a perfect height for that.
