Help me find a campsite pref within 1.5 hours of Cheshire

Hi all,

I have been let down by the campsite we were planning to stay at for my birthday weekend on 11-13 July and I need to find another ASAP but am losing the will to live with UK Campsite!!

Can anyone recommend a campsite within 1.5 hours (2 absolute max) of mid-Cheshire (so probably North Wales - Anglesey would be furthest), which has the following:

  • allows tents;
  • nice things for small kids to do (age 3 & 5) - be it playground, farm animals, swimming pool, stream (don't expect all of these things!);
  • decent toilets/showers
  • electric hookup is a must!
  • not rowdy at night.

Anyone?!?

What sort of budget are you on? If money is not an issue then here www.plassey.com/holiday-park/ is highly recommended.

Nantcol waterfalls is lovely. Stream but no animals (except sheep!) or Park. Toilets and showers are nice.

The Plassey is nice, restrictions on swimming times but a nice little park.

I've already tried the Plassey - no room left! Sad Will look at Nantcol, thanks.

Holme Open Farm near Sedbergh. Lovely place.

www.lanesidecaravanpark.co.uk This site has a fab stream for paddling.

holgates.co.uk Is brilliant and has most of the things you ask for at its sister site Hollins farm, just a field away from the main site.

Cae Gwyn is lovely. As is Llyn Gwynant.

Honeymoonmummy · 27/06/2014 23:12

Ooh lots of replies! Have looked at Fisherground, it looks great but think maybe when DC's are a bit older? I have already looked at Holgates Serin, it looks fab, am going to give them a call tomorrow because their online booking doesn't seem to be working (or they're fully booked!)

Will look at the others now. Thanks all!

Pant yr Onnen at Bala - beach like lake at the edges to paddle in, spotless new toilet block, very quiet off a B road so no traffic noise. Lots to do in area. Beautiful site - lovely owners!! Have been last 4 years Smile

Featherdown looks lovely but pricey www.featherdown.co.uk
lots of choices with 1.5 hours from Cheshire.
More glamping than camping though :)

Honeymoonmummy · 28/06/2014 01:29

Thanks but we're not quite on Featherdown budget Wink

Have quite a few to try tomorrow, thanks all!

Have you seen this? Not looked at swimming facilities.

Situated 2 minutes off the A55.

Cheshire Lakes

Thanks Shakey, those BBQ pods look good! The site looks a bit too sparse tho, not much to do (we don't fish!!)
