Tent hire

Anyone done it?

We want to hire tents + sleeping stuff for about 40 people. Don't want to spend a fortune, but would like it to be nice.

40 people?? That's a lot of tents.

TBH you could probably buy a tent for almost as cheap as you could hire one. Do you have all the other camping paraphernalia you need?

Yeah I was thinking about buying. We have guests coming from Europe and they will probably have sleeping bags to bring but they are likely to be shitty ones. In an ideal world we'd have fully kitted out bell tents with double b eds and carpets and such like, but it is likely to cost a fortune I think.

How about hiring a marquee?

Search for bell tent hire on eBay. I have just seen them for £65 a week which I thought was very reasonable but obviously depends on what is available locally to you.

Get them to bring sleeping bags and bed rolls (or buy them when they arrive) Or Wilkinsons do very cheap basic pillows and quilts. Ditto for plastic bowls, plates and cutlery.

I think we might go with disposable plates, saves on washing up. I'm quite tempted to buy in SIMs from decathlon and then tell people to take them home with them.

Looking for surrey/Hampshire borders, nothing on ebay.

Hmmm, not great then Hmm
Another idea, assuming you have a credit card or plenty of spare cash, is to buy bell tents from somewhere like SoulPad. We are in the market for one and have spent many hours skulking around eBay for second hand ones. They seem to go (ATM at least) for not a lot less than they are brand new so would be a reasonably safe investment.
