In my own with a 2 year old?

Am thinking about going camping (literally me carrying the tent etc) with my 2 year old to Avignon, via Eurostar in July so in the school holidays.
For a week.
Am I mad?
Eurostar direct is only 5 hours, campsite is a taxi ride away. Campsite has pool etc.
cost approx £400 plus living whilst there.

I think it depends on how comfortable you want to be. You and kiddo and tent, ok. What about stroller, sleeping bags, mats, chairs, clothes, kids stuff (toys etc), toiletries, cooking stuff, lights, and loads of other camping gobshite I could think of.... Or are you renting a tent/caravan? Do you have easy to tote luggage?

Not saying it's not doable, camping with kids just takes a bit of planning. We camp all the time with our 2 year old but there's 2 of us and a we throw everything in the car. When we go to campsite, I tend to entertain our daughter while DH sets up tent but she's pretty good and I can imagine would be ok if I had to do it while she watched ....as long as I had planned a way for her to 'help'

Yes, I forgot about all the other stuff, might look at hiring the ones already set up.
I kinda want a mini adventure, but then I end up not actually doing it due to lack of bravery

Maybe look at sites that have their own 'cabins' or huts...they're not mobile homes...they can sometimes be one step up from a wooden playhouse you'd have in your garden but with furniture? We've seen some really cute ones throughout France.
Avignon could be really hot in July so they may be a bit hotter than a tent would be though?!
Be brave...go on the adventure.

I totally get what you mean about the weather but really, a two year old won't give a damn. And as a PP has said it could be very hot, DS spent a lot of his first trip to Southern France indoors at a similar age (think 11-3pm, that's a big chunk of a two year olds day)

But on a more positive note, absolutely go for an adventure. I did similar when I was single and it was great. It will be tiring but a lone parenting holiday always will be, whether you are in France or Bognor Regis. Eurostar will be fun for a while and French campsites are very welcoming to children. I would certainly look at accommodation already set up rather than lugging gear yourself, unless you are able to drive? There are some fantastic campsites within 20 miles or so of the French ports if that might be an option :)
