Just left the campsite and have had real trouble folding the tent. Just couldn't get the air out of it. Any ideas please .

get the 3 lovely kids to take their shoes off and roll on the canvas which you put on top of a ground sheet, fold and repeat.

Also leave some zips partially open if you have a SIG...will speed up the process

depending on the shape of your tent start with sides to middle so all clean surfaces are together, fold into 6ths/7ths ot 8ths to get to the right length for the bag....I then roll but you could fold.

what tent?

You Tube is your friend - we usually have a little watch of how it should be done on the ipad...... before having The Argument when DH does his own bloody thing

I agree with foolonthehill normally we lay out flat then fold both ends into the middle and then fold into the middle again until it's width is small enough to go into the bag then put the poles or poles in their bag at one end and roll the tent up with the poles inside. This should help keep the tent quite tightly rolled as well as helping to give it some rigidity when pushing it into the bag.

Main bit of advice is to always make sure the tent is dry or if wet when packed make sure you set it up again when you get home and dry it properly!

We had a right problem getting our tent back into the bag. It took us 3/4 attempts so get it back in! Practice makes perfect I guess. We've only camped once.
Will check out the YouTube video too ;)

Thanks for the replies and yes some mutterings could be heard between myself and dh. Only have 1 lovely kid that camps now.
Not usually a problem with the air had left doors open and folded left to right. It is wet tho maybe that made it harder. O well nearly home now and then we can peg it out to dry ! Joys of camping ehGrin

of course there is always the fold up and lay on top of all other camping equipment solution until you get home!!

DillydollyRIP · 31/05/2014 22:04

That sounds a good idea. We need a trailer for all our equipment (4dc's) so it's like a crap game of Tetris getting it all packed :)

Leave the doors open, fold and then roll towards the open end.
