Campsites where you don't need to book in E Sussex/Kent?

Hi, we are going camping for the first time ever with friends and various kids (kids aged between 6 and 8) over the half term, but don't want to have to book anywhere for various reasons.

Can anyone recommend any campsites in East Sussex/Kent where you can just turn up on the day? Doesn't have to be posh, just a field with loos would do it for us Smile

Many thanks in advance!

You can definitely do that with Park Farm campsite in Bodiam www.parkfarmcamping.co.uk/. It used to be very rough and ready but has really improved in recent years and has decent loos and showers now. It also has a lovely walk alongside the river/stream (where there is a rope swing) which leads to the castle/pub. Very nice.

Also you might be ok with Chafford Park campsite - chaffordpark.co.uk/camping-at-chafford-park/- it is relatively new and wasn't particualrly busy last year.

BTW - you should be aware that Park Farm is a big site and does get very busy. It does allow campfires though (as does Chafford Park) and they have really clamped down on late night noise in recent years. that said, it is in no way a quiet rural retreat, but if you are going with friends and children, that may not be so much of an issue.

we just turned up at Fairfields Campsite in Pevensey, grudgingly they put us up in a field,
there are masses round the area so you could take a chance but if they are full, they are full i guess

In a group, and with kids, I wouldn't risk anywhere without booking, in a half term, bank hol, good weather weekend.

Although the weather may make it all easy Grin.

Merrylands Camping at Chiddingly is a relaxed site - you book but don't pay til you arrive. They don't charge for kids and it is £10 per night per adult.

I would at least call before setting off and make sure there are vacancies.

Hi, thanks for the responses. We can't book as it might not happen for various reasons, I will make a list and call before we set off though if we do go. If we can't get in to any we have a plan B!

Will have a look through these tonight, thank you.

Am happy to have more suggestions if anyone has any!

We stay here regularly, fantastic campsite and we never usually book just call them the morning we want to arrive. It's situated in a little village on the coast between Dover and Deal the views across the sea are amazing and in good weather you can easily see France and you can have a campfire.

That looks lovely as well Plimpippin thank you. Am so excited now, hope we get to go!
