Vacuum Packing

I tried this in general travel, but didn't get any recomendations so hoping someone here can help.

We're touring for a month this summer so space in the car is tight! So I want to try vacuum packing. So can anyone recomend a brand of bags they use that they find reliable. We will be packing and unpacking a lot so we need them to be tough!

Also do we need to take a pump or are the Lakeland ones that you just roll any good?

Any advice would be great. Grin

I used Lakeland ones and JL, both were good. Also had an airbed pump which suck air out so used that! They were truly amazing for reducing size of towels/rugs/fleeces etc

I generally find that the better quality bag the better it lasts (as a rule of thumb) I also take spares as it would be catastrophic if we were left short. We would probably end up dumping our pillows as there simply wouldn't be space for them :o
We use a pump for blowing up air beds etc. which has a sucking as well as blowing function. DH attached a piece of white waste pipe to the sucky bit so it fits nicely over the valve.

Daughter heading off to work for Camp America this summer and i've suggested this as an option to get her there. She can leave all the cheap t-shirts and stuff at the end of the trip but at the moment her little sis is being used as a suitcase squasher!! If she only needs single use...can we just go for the cheap and cheerful options?

Great thank you for the suggestions. I'll check out the John Lewis ones as well as the Lakeland ones. I definitly don't mind paying extra to make sure they don't break half way round! I don't think my French is up to trying to find somewhere there that sells them! Grin
