How old were your DCs when they first slept in the awning of your caravan?

I'd like to get a small caravan for weekends away in the UK. We're a family of 3 - DD is 2.4. I've seen one I like on ebay, but it's only two berth, although it does come with an awning. How old were your DCs when the first slept in an awning?

Not much help but my dcs are 7 & 10 and I wouldn't consider letting them sleep in the awning yet. Primarily because of me being neurotic about people snatching them safety but also because I'd feel mean them being out in a colder bit than me. Personally I'd kick DH out instead!

About 10 IIRC.

Thanks. I think I was a bit younger than 10 when I slept in the awning with DB, but not as young as 2.4.... I'll keep hunting for a 3 berth.

My DD always preferred the caravan to the awning. The original caravan had a double bunk that curtained off, that she slept in, but when we replaced the caravan, the newer ones were heavier, due to a bigger oven, etc so we ended up with a 2 berth, and an awning. DD never felt the same about it.

If she's only 2 could she not sleep in between you and dh either on the bed made up as a king size or leave them as 2 singles and put a ready bed on the floor between the beds - we did this when dc little and ready beds were a good fit.

Dc didn't really go in our awning until 10+.
