Blandmum · 21/08/2006 15:26

I think you need to rest deal, things are obviously getting on top of you

LucyCat · 21/08/2006 16:08

oh yeh..........

Ok let's try again - sorry marymoocow, I have no idea what the tent is like - try ukcampsite, they are the fount of all camping knowledge - apart from mb of course!!

marymoocow · 24/08/2006 14:34

thanks for your replies. looked at the site, not many mentions of the khyam. Is it because it is new this year, or haven't there been any problems? (Hope not!!)

Fullmoonfiend was borrowing a Khyam at the weekend but I don't think it was a Colorado.Maybe she'll be in later.

marymoocow · 24/08/2006 21:16

thanks for that. Hopefully she'll be of some help. Can't even find much on any khyam. Must be good?!!

Bump in case FMF is still about.

fullmoonfiend · 25/08/2006 12:16

no, ours wasn't the Colorado. It was a Kyham, but was an igloo syle with 3 sleep compartments (and was admirably goo BTW)

Is this the one?

fullmoonfiend · 25/08/2006 12:19

Oh and Sugarfree - I ain't lying about the cream tea - but the devonian bar stewards only gave me 2 (which I can eat all by myself )

sugarfree · 25/08/2006 12:21

You were diddled out of a scone?
That's a disgrace.I hope you complained loudly.

fullmoonfiend · 25/08/2006 12:31

well no. I didn't realise you were supposed to get 3, til you just told me and accused me of inflating my cake-eating capabilities (which are considerable)
Ignorance is bliss

marymoocow · 26/08/2006 09:48

yes that is the one. seems to look plenty big enough for the 5 of us. Think we are just going to have to go for it and hope for the best

Just a quick point, Khyams don't tend to come with a groundsheet so you have to buy one separately plus that means more pegging than one with a built-in one.
But they do go up quickly prior to pegging so you've got a rainproof shelter straightaway.

PeachyClairHasBadHair · 03/09/2006 15:05

Do make sure you see it- I almost bought a Khyam a few weeks back and then saw it- it was miniscule!

Have you looked on their site, they ahve excellent product demonstrations.

marymoocow · 03/09/2006 22:30

Have looked at it on the site. Looks massive to me. Its this
It also comes with a "fully fitted clip in footprint ground sheet" whatever that all means. So to a novice it sounds fine. But would still be grateful for any more comments, as we still haven't taken the plunge.
Have decided where we are going with it though!

i'm shocked! my link worked at the first attempt. If only buying a tent was that easy

Oh, it's one of those

Should be fine. The tunnel tents (or cloche tents, as I call them ) are not quite as stable as some other designs in very windy situations (we considered a Vario which is similar but we like to camp right on the coast so decided against it). But I would imagine that is a perfectly fine tent that you will get many years from.

It would also explain why you can't find much info, as Vario ? Gelert are the standards in that shape. Have you checked out the Lokon range, just to compare prices? I iamgine the quality is snap the same.

One more thing; look at the Campus models. They might have a slightly lass fancy one of the same (being as Camopus and Khyam are one) for cheaper.
