We're home and what a fantastic five days we had at Banham, Norfolk

Went to Applewood Campsite which is next door to Banham Zoo, Nr Diss in Norfolk. Was a well laid out site, imagine a wheel with hedges for spokes so lots of privacy yet spacious too, six hookups per "spoke" if you know what I mean! We are proper campers, none of that namby pamby hook up stuff for us so we pitched up in the middle. Loads of room, great kids play area. Immaculate site, clean loos and showers, laundry too.

Pay once to go in the zoo (which is right next door so the donkey and tiger wake you up in the morning!) and then go in as many times as you like during your stay. We went in three times - lots to see and another fab playarea. We went in first thing and let the kids play on the stuff before the hoards arrived, me and DH sat and drank coffee from the lovely coffee shop and let them run!

All in all a great place to go.

Haven't been camping there but did go to Banham Zoo a couple of years ago. Loved the horse-drawn carriage and the zebras and the birds of prey.

Sounds good. Did you have to book in advance?

KBear · 11/08/2006 16:11

we booked but you could probably turn up

Thanks. it seems from what various friends have experienced that many sites are now taking advanced bookings and a lot of places are now full. Camping is obviously the in thing atm!

Sounds wonderful - will add it to my list.
