Do you lock your tent up when you go to sleep at night or just when you leave it??
I am a bit nervous about the thought of only being canvas between you and the outside world whilst asleep. Dh thinks I am being silly but to me its a real worry (from someone whose house was burgled in the middle of the night whilst I was happily snoring away naked in my bed).

Didn't lock my tent up at all, too many toilet trips at night (all girls we have, DH of course said it ws my job!), our thinking is if somebody wants to get, then they'll get in anyway. Can honestly say that we.ve naver had any problems tho'.

I don't lock my tent either - if someone really wants to get in your tent they will just cut it with a knife anyway. We've never had a problem in all the years we've camped.

FeelingOld · 08/08/2006 13:18

So don't you lock your tent up when you leave it either?
Sorry for being thick, but its 20 years since I went camping and dh has never been at all. I wouldn't leave anything valuable in tent (not that we really own anything valuable ), so is it just best to trust people?

Don't bother! There is usually people around so thieves would have to be very brave

Exactly, just don't take anything valuable that you can't fit in your pockets/handbag. Less is definitely more with camping (she says having just bought a bigger car to accomodate tent that needs 2 adults to carry it.) THe point of a camping holiday is to leave things like PSPs, Blackberries etc behind. Even the mobiles if you've got the guts...
