What do you sleep on?

We have a bell tent and up until now have used inflatable mattresses. I find them very uncomfortable though and they tend to deflate a bit overnight making for a very saggy night's sleep.

What do you find most comfortable? I suppose warmth is a consideration too?

I hate inflatable mattresses. I bought a 7.5cm Vango Sim then take two duvets (one to lie on and one to cover me). That plus a pillow = comfort of home in a tent :)

SIMs offer far more insulation from the ground and we find them more comfortable.

I'm happy with an airbed and sleeping bag [easily pleased]

Thanks for the replies, I'll need to look at the SIMs.

Yes definitely a SIM! We had one 5cm one which we got for free. Soon realised it was the most comparable one!! Needed new bedding so we got 4 5cm doubles (cheaper than 2 10cm ones as these were on offer) and now it's comfier than sleeping at home lol

WelshMoth · 07/02/2014 18:02

mummyofwilliam, how do you keep them together? I'm assuming you stack 2 of them to get a 10cm mattress? Don't they just slide off?

DumSpiroSpero · 13/02/2014 21:16

We're softies - queen size, double height, self inflating Intex airbed, our own duvet and pillows and a couple of fluffy blankets Grin .

This year I'm going to give fold up camp beds a try

Wolfiefan · 14/02/2014 19:47

We have camp beds.
If you use inflatable beds then put a may under them. The extra insulation helps to stop them deflating quite as much.
