Camping stove advice

LucyLemon · 21/07/2006 12:16

Now, what stoves do people have and which do they think are the best?
2 burner stove with grill

2 burner stove - no grill

1 burner stove - buy a couple, is there any benefit in this?

3 burner stove

I just can't decide....and don't want to decide and make the wrong decision! Basically I suppose I'm asking if the ones with grills are much cop.

Please help girls

Dunno about a grill, but we took dh's single burner camping gas stove and my Trangia with gas adapter, and hardly ever found we needed more than one burner at once. The two burners use different types of gas (the Trangia is screw-fitting) which we thought might be a benefit if it was ever difficult to get one or other types of gas, but in fact we have never noticed one sort but not the other for sale.
I also got one of those toasters that sits on a gas ring (£2.25!) and it works really well, so if the main use of the grill was going to be making toast you could get one of those and do without quite happily.

we have 2 burners and grill and have only really used the grill to do veggie beany burgers that just disintegrate and turn to charcoal on the barbecue...

We have a 2 burner with grill - we use it for week or more holidays and it's great. We do use the grill but it takes a while to 'heat up' I like things like toasted teacakes / potato cakes and we also use the whole caboodle (2 rings & grill) if I'm doing something like a curry. Rice on one, curry on the other and naan under the grill. if there isn't much difference in the price then I'd advise getting one with a grill, better that than spend money on one without then wish you'd got on with... iyswim.

We also have a single burner for weekends which is great.

We have 2 burners w grill - useful for toast, bacon for butties etc. Think 2 rings useful, for doing chilli and rice, or sauce and pasta etc., and toast grerat for cheering you up on a wet day! not that it dare rain next week while we are camping!

2 burner with grill here.
Use it pretty much like Lucycat...bolognaise/pasta ...that sort of thing.

I was going to ask this question.

How much does a 2 ring and grill one cost ?

I always used a two burner, Coleman number whilst car camping.

For toast, I did fried bread - just a knob of butter in the pan or in bacon drippings.

Ooh, ta for your responses ladies.

I think I will go for the two burner with grill. We love our toast!

I think I've found a pretty cheap one here:

Sorry, can't do links.
That's not a bad price now is it?
