someone at work has recommended Church Stretton. Anyone been there or live near there? Is it blissfully peaceful? I crave some P&Q!

Have never camped there but Shropshire, like neighbouring Herefordshire is beautiful, profoundly peaceful, English countryside at its best. Very different from pretty but rather overcrowded Kent
The pace of life is honestly delightfully different there. Have a colleague who holidays every year down that way and he is a P & Q nut.

I enticed a sheep into the car there with a cheese buttie, when I was about 8. Unimpressed parents!

we camped somewhere near the Long Mynd once - it was lovely.

KBear · 20/07/2006 15:26

It's right near Long Mynd apparently. Just got to beat DH around the head with a tent pole until he agrees with me.

My mum lives in Church Stretton and it is indeed lovely. Shropshire generally is very overlooked - it is amazingly beautiful. If you go there, go to the Bache valley as well as Cardingmill - anyone in the shops will be able to give you directions. Lots of lovely walking and there are streams for kids to play in. Ludlow is not so far, with a castle and swimming pool, and also Ironbridge isn't far - there are lots of museums - the Victorian one, Blists Hill is very good for children but I believe lots of them have things to do for kids.We have stayed at a little campsite off the A49 - can't remember the name - but only one field and one shower - there is another one in Ashes Hollow - in Church Stretton itself - we went to look at this one and it there was a bit more room, but still very peaceful. Anything else specific you want to know?

KBear · 22/07/2006 08:43

Peaceful is all I need to know!

Thanks!
