sorry, another tent query

I really want to buy a tent, but have no idea where to start. Have had a look through a few other threads but not found what I need to know.

Can someone recommend me a good, cheap tent. There will be me, dp and ds so it doesn't need to be huge, but big enough for all of our stuff and easy to put up.

thank you

Did you see this thread? . Some good suggestions on there.

LucyCampCat · 12/07/2006 14:23

How about a Vango venture 500. Cost about £84, plenty of room in the bedrooms to store stuff and a porch (with windows) which is big enough to fit 4 chairs - we've got one and used it last weekend.

Try Go Outdoors.

hairymclary · 12/07/2006 18:54

yeah i saw that one marthamoo, couldn't get a lot of the links to work though. but will try again, it might just have been my PC.

that vango venture 500 looks good actually lucy. does it have separate bedrooms or one big one? I can't tell from pics

Just got this one £115 including delivery. It has a really good review on UK Campsite tent

LucyCampCat · 12/07/2006 19:11

It has one big bedroom separated by a hanging curtain type thing on toggles, fine to give you some privacy but equally easy to get to the little ones when they wake in the night. You can also take it down altogether and have one big bedroom.
hth - we found it to be great for the weekend, took us half an hour to put up in very windy conditions! Had to get the dd's to lie on it to stop it blowing away at one point

SlightlyFamiliarPeachyClair · 12/07/2006 22:30

Luce how tall is the Venture?

getting my parents a tent for christmas. So far tempted by the wynnster curlew here which I have seen for £84 locally. HAs to be a walk in as Mum has mobility issues

LucyCampCat · 12/07/2006 23:05

it's 180cm in the porch bit and 190cm in the bedroom bit so the Wynnster may be more suitable as it's 200cm

hth, it's a good overall size for a couple but if you want a bit more height then maybe not!

nighty night - see you tomorrow?

hairymclary · 13/07/2006 09:57

SFPC I like the look of that one too. There is so much choice isn't there?

OP posts:
SlightlyFamiliarPeachyClair · 13/07/2006 18:22

There really is too much choice LOL! mind yu what would us saddo camping types do otherwise, if there weren't tents to look at?

LucyCampCat · 13/07/2006 18:23

tent porn

SlightlyFamiliarPeachyClair · 13/07/2006 18:34

(heavy breathing)

ooh ooh ooh it's a Khyam YESSSSSSSSSSS!

sorry!

LucyCampCat · 13/07/2006 18:37

I thought it was Gelert's that floated your boat peachy?

you're not having a fling with a Khyam are you?

SlightlyFamiliarPeachyClair · 13/07/2006 18:48

No, just trying to go for more mass appeal

Knew Sally would appreciate the Khyam ref too!

hairymclary · 13/07/2006 18:54

but why oh why do they have such silly names? vango, khyam, gelert???

OP posts:
marthamoo · 13/07/2006 18:55

My tent's called Monty - that's not silly

SlightlyFamiliarPeachyClair · 13/07/2006 18:59

Mine is named after a district of Washington, apparently- Tahoma (OK Gelert Tahoma, but Gelert IS a bit silly, although coming from Somerset it's approproately been swapped for the traditional gert in our house!)

LucyCampCat · 13/07/2006 21:09

Gelert's come from Beddgelert - soooo sad story

Mine's from Denmark (Outwell) and the USA ( Colorado) bit of a mongrel!

SlightlyFamiliarPeachyClair · 14/07/2006 11:22

Gelert the tale of the dog is just amketing, apapremntly.

LucyCampCat · 14/07/2006 19:40

nooooo don't tell my dd that, it took her all holiday to get over it!

ooh you old cynic you

hairymclary · 14/07/2006 19:48

ooh i've been to beddgelert
