Stiffkey, on the North Norfolk coast?
It is a small and quiet site, directly on the saltmarsh - a walk down a track takes you to creeks with sandy bits, and a longer walk over cockly little bridges to the vast open sandflats. Good beaches with car parks directly at the beach at nearby Wells and Brancaster. One pub which does food within walking distance of the campsite.
3 hrs from London as long as you are near the M11.

We've stayed here a few times. Great during term-time but busy during school hols.

If you leave early in the morning after the kids wake then Gower in Wales could be a 3 hr drive. There are tons of campsites near beaches, Port Eynon, Oxwich, Broughton. There's Llangennith too but it's quite (although I think it has a family enclosure).

If you ring the TIC in Swansea they'll send you a brochure.

We're going to Ivy Farm soon. Haven't been before but like the sound of it and we estimate that it's about 3h from London.

oops, suffolk is only about 1.5 - 2 hours from London. Norfolk a bit longer but certainly within 3 hours. Norfolk is fab imo - Wells next the Sea etc - it's really quiet!

But East Angllia can be rather windswept which is why we like the site I linked to. You have the choice to be in the forest, go shopping in Woodbridge or go to the coast!

Mercy - that site says it's fully booked and is taking no ore tent bookings at all!!

Mercy · 26/06/2006 10:28

Just had a look - it's not clear from the plan but the tent field is actually a small separate area which they haven't shown in the photo or the site plan. They are still taking bookings for the main field though (which is mostly tents anyway).

It is very badly worded isn't it?

I did panic slightly when I saw your message!!
