after a terrible camping trip I have concluded we need a much bigger tent ! (currently have vango Vista 8 berth)
There's me, dh, ds1(15) dd1(13), dd2(11), dd3(9), dd4 (7) and ds2 (5). then there are
dogs!
ideally I would like 4 pods, large living area and porch area.
can anyone recommend me a suitably huge tent?

Commented on your other post...given ages of kids, might it be an idea to get a 2nd tent instead of 1 huge one? The older boys would be fine in a 3-4 berth maybe? Then, as they get older and may not always go with you, you're not left with a massive tent and not enough bodies to fill it...

yes did wonder about that. not sure about pitch feed though...May worth out more expensive to have 2 pitches but may not if we have to pay large tent supplement....
forgot to add that idea tent must have Sig to stop dogs escaping!

Buy a couple of pop up tents for the older 2 or 3 children. Then can you and the youngest 3 manage in the Vango? Does the Vango have dividers in the sleeping areas? Also get a gazebo to extend your living space.

As far as I can see this is what families with older DC we have camped with tend to do anyway. Good luck!

The thing is in a few years they will all want their own tents anyway, to have a small extra pitch still won't outweigh the cost of buying £500+ worth of monster tent.

Also commented on your other post (I think) recommending 2 tent and 2 pitches. However if you really want a big tent perhaps a Cabanon Espace would fit the bill? Good reviews on UK campsites. It's a canvas tent and probably heavy and expensive new BUT worth looking at a second hand purchase?

Oh, there's one on ebay now, in Yorkshire...

We have a kalahari 10 with a porch - it's brilliant and very spacious. Also the corado 8 is a massive tent. Both have four pods. The corado has a slightly larger living area but the kalahari is more flexible in terms of porches. Both great tents.
You would need to find a friendly campsite who would be happy for you to put an additional 2 man tent right next to yours (so still within your pitch space really). We go to the same place every year and they are happy for us to do this - bit we are 'regulars!!!'
