Well, it's supposed to be next day delivery, but they haven't taken the money from our account yet. Maybe Friday? Found it cheapest at \link{http://www.camperlands.co.uk/\Camperlands} which, somewhat spookily, is where my parents bought our family tent when we were little - it's in Manchester, just down the road from where we used to live.

Yes, I am excited - keep watching the little film on the Outwell site Grin

If it is like the old colerado, and I think it is in terms of pitching it, it is dead easy.

30 minutes maximum nowerdays.

marthamoo · 14/06/2006 19:28

Do you want to watch the film? It's \link{http://www.outwell.co.uk/\here} you have to find the Montana 6 then click on 'Pitching Way'. I love the bit at the end where they drop the doormat (oooh, oooh I'm going to have an Outwell doormat!) casually into place...it's the camping equivalent of a post-coital cigarette Grin

Looks very easy - not many poles, and pitches all in one.

How are you doing with the two week get gorgeous for the reunion programme, btw?

7 pounds lost since sunday! And I am eating properly....just shows what not eating rubbish and drinking wine will do Shock

Had my hair cut yesterday and eded up going to A and E as the hairdresser (a mate) cut the end off her finger!

Going to do my feet tonight , probably TMI there.

LOL at the tent porn!

Didn't you get yours via a Blacks tent show, Rowlers? I did see your post and searched for tent shows but the soonest one near us is 22nd July - I didn't want to wait 'til then. Bargain though - good for you Grin

Oh well done you, mb!

marthamoo · 14/06/2006 19:49

Had she finished cutting your hair before she had to go to A&E? Or are you all lopsided?

OP posts:
Blandmum · 14/06/2006 19:57

she was half way through, but ever the pro, supervised the junior till it was finished and then went with me to the hospital!

Thank god she'd done the colour Shock Grin

Yes we did - we were very lucky - had spent weeks deliberating about which tent to buy and just thought we'd go and have another look and lo and behold - 25%off!
Still to pitch it - not sure if our garden will be big enough!
We'll have to compare notes after the first outing. Grin

LucyCampCat · 14/06/2006 21:12

What size Monty have you ordered?

Camperlands is great isn't it? We went to look at a tent there last summer and the inside covered tent area was like a sauna!!

Funnily enough I think my mum and dad bought their tent there in 1976 - ahh memories! Grin

marthamoo · 14/06/2006 21:22

The 6 - it seemed a lot more tent for not that much more money than the 4.

Our tent when I was a kid (from Camperlands) was actually two, four man ridge tents (real canvas!) and my Mum sewed from a couple of canvas tarps a connecting bit which attached somehow so it was like three tents joined together in a long line. The inner 'tent' opened out on poles to make a canopy so they could cook in there. I remember it so clearly - thought it was great.

She also tells the tale of cooking chips in a proper chip pan on a one ring primus...inside a 2 man tent (well, it was raining). Blimey, they were wild my parents Grin

And when I was 8 months old Dad wanted to go camping to Cornwall and Mum said she needed a tent big enough to have the pram (fifteenth hand Silver Cross) standing up in so I could sleep in it. So he got a marquee from somewhere Grin It was really wild and windy one night so he and another bloke they were camping with went out and tied loads more guys on to it to stop it blowing away. Only they were a bit merry and when Mum went out and looked in the morning she said it looked like a giant demented spider had spun a massive web all over it.

See, these are the sort of stories I want my kids to be able to tell (but they won't 'cos camping is all civilised these days Grin )

that outwell film is porny but the other one is CREEPY
very Blair Witch Project
see here:
\link{http://www.outwell.dk/Administration/Images/Images/VideoView/133.wmv\spooky film}
(takes a few seconds to load)
see the bodies all laid out....
i shall try not to think of the film whilst lying in the tent

marthamoo · 15/06/2006 15:48

It's come! Only it's still in my next door neighbour's living room (we were at the park) because I can't lift the box Grin I've got the box with the poles in though...

OP posts:
LucyCampCat · 15/06/2006 19:31

Are the poles in a separate bag? How big is this tent? Grin

marthamoo · 15/06/2006 19:53

Yes, the poles are in a different bag. It's..erm...substantial shall we say Wink? We just got it all out and admired the doormat. It's too big for our garden but we'll have a go at pitching it in my parents' (steeply sloping) garden at the weekend.

OP posts:
marthamoo · 15/06/2006 19:54

I think we need a roof box...

OP posts:
LucyCampCat · 15/06/2006 20:18

oooh yes, you've got to have a roofbox, great for the squishy stuff, fold up chairs - my saddo list even has a code to show what goes in the roofbox!

Don't forget to put the tent in last as it has to come out of the car first - especially when it's raining!

Love the chip pan in a tent story - classic!
