What tent do we buy to tour Europe? - and should we do it in a tent or a van?

We haven't actually decided if we will get a campervan, caravan or tent and a big 4WD... anyone done any of these? We are planning 6 months and our kids will be 5 and 3 years.

If we go for a tent we want:

Integral grounsheet

fast to set up

the option of just setting up the 'main' room if we are only staying for a night, but one with 2 little rooms coming off it if we are staying a few nights/weeks in one place.

I like the ones with the two rooms off, so DH and I have a little 'privacy'...afterall, 6 months is a long time...Blush

and the main room needs to have enough space for kids to play if its raining

Any thoughts from you knowledgable ladies would be much appreciated...

Thanks :)

if you want a tent, go for a diabolo, (Vango) or my tent, the Gelert tahoma which is exactly the same and a hundred quid cheaper Grin. You can't put the main up without the pods BUT only coz the pods are stitched in and don't nee dputting up. The main room is HUGE. Fine for the five of us. Fits your criteria certainly.

BUT hate to say it, I would want a tourer (probably caravan and car, so you can dump van and take off to palces /supermarkets) for that long- proper fridge, cooker etc.

Personally, I wouldn't rely on just a tent. If you are really going for a full 6 months, there are few places in "Europe" (it's a big continent!) that aren't going to be pretty cold at night for some of those 6 months.
