On my 'first time camping with baby' thread you mentioned a plan to go cycle touring camping next year.

Where/for how long/how? Have you worked out the logistics? I'm intrigued.

Pre-marriage and children, DH did a lot of cycle touring. He got me a tourer last year for my birthday and we have a bike trailer for the girls. We're thinking of taking them to France next year but can't see how we could manage to camp. They will be 22 months and 4 1/2. We're thinking we'll have to arrange B&Bs.

Not done much planning yet. Dh is keen to go to brittany , I assumed he meant B&B but he started talking about camp sites! From where we are in Exeter its faily easy to take a train to plymouth, cycle to the ferry terminal and get a boat to Roscoff - hence brittany, probadly for a week or maybe just 5 days.
In the past we have ( pre baby) toured round devon and cornwall doing big miles with no pre planning of routes. I think next year we will be doing small miles and lots of beaches and parks and more route planning.
I'm guessing we will have to load both bikes with 2 large rear panniers, and maybe get front panniers or a rack bag for the non trailing bike. Boy has a CTS chariot trailer, its a solo so its quite narrow and doesn't have much luggage space. Boy is now 3 months old so next june would be 15 months.
I wonder if it'd be more sensible to find a camp site with standing tents, stay there a week and go out on day rides. needs a bit more thinking about before we commit to any thing.

Well, keep me posted. As soon as we get back from this year's holiday I think we'll start planning the cycle trip to France. We live on the south coast so may do a ferry from Portsmouth or go from newhaven to Dieppe.

Camping would be nicer than B&Bs but I can't imagine being able to carry enough stuff for both children - ot without another trailer.
