Food Delivery to Campsite

Anyone done it?

The nearest supermarket to the site we've booked in Dorset is 40 minutes drive away, which we're not going to want to do after the drive down there.

I've had a look at Sainsbury's will deliver to the postcode, but I'm wondering how it will work, will they call me when they arrive so I can meet them at the reception desk? Should I email their customer services to let them know?

Yes! Blush It's one of the best things we do, if staying for a while at a site.

Have you ever had deliveries anyway? If so, just change the address for this delivery, if not then it doesn't matter (and you may well find a discount code knocking about if it's your first delivery).

Make sure the shop has your mobile number in case. We tend to book for about an hour after we arrive obviously allowing for traffic jams. We also take an empty plastic box with a lid (nestled inside our camping box to save space) to put all the food in.

I spoke to the campsite when we checked in and they were fine for the van to drive right up to our pitch, and told them where we were but you might have to hang about at reception with a book for an hour and unload there if they don't want the van on the pitches.

The look of the other campers was priceless, and loads came over to say what a good idea it was.

I didn't think to ask the site, I'll drop them an email.

We're only there for a week, them we move onto another site for another week, but that one does have a supermarket, market and good local shops nearby.

Usually we do a shop the day we arrive, but that's not going to happen it its 40 mins away, which will lead to more meals out, take away's and visits to the no doubt very expensive on-site shop.

We always do online shopping for Guide camp, the van drivers say they often deliver to the campsite.

It is fab and no more pushing 2 trolleys round the supermarket Grin
