We are going camping this weekend for the first time this year and last year dd2 seeped in a mosses basket but she is 2 big now! Dd1 sleeps in a ready bed but I just don’t know what dd2 can sleep on, any ideas?
We are also going to buy a new torch, any one got a good one?
Any one got some good tips surviving in a tent with a 4yr old and a 1 yr old?

Do you have a travel cot? We took ds a couple of times when he was one. The first time we took the travel cot, the second he slept in his sleeping bag on a double airbed.

we do have a travel cot but its 2 big to fit in the tent :(

Is there room for an airbed then? We put ds on a double because we have room and I thought he might roll off a single. Could you put a single next to your bed then she can't roll off?

We don’t really have room for another double or single bed in our tent room, we could just about fit anoth single in the 2nd bedroom. but she would roll off, but we could try co sleeping, just don’t like the thought of rolling on her tho

Our air beds are quite thick, but you could get one of the thinner ones and use lots of blankets to pad it out. I think Millets do one that's only an inch or so thick, so she won't roll off.

thanks otto, think il have a look in Millets see wht i can see

What about the newer 'my first ready beds', they have cushions to prevent rolling off.

bresha · 07/06/2006 19:45

thanks peachyClair, Age Range: 24+ months tho, my dd is 12 mths, do you think she would still be ok on there?

My ds3 has beenin the 4 plus one for a year, so I would think so TBH. The good thing with readybeds is that they can be 'practised' in easily at home, perhaps at nap time?

iirc most toddler beds are from two up, I think the reality is that you have to 'know' your child.

Nemo1977 · 08/06/2006 11:40

ready bed wouldbe fine for 12mth old as its very safe. If she couold sleep in a bed [ as my ds did at 12mths] she will be fine in ready bed

bresha · 09/06/2006 14:06

i might just invest in another ready bed! we hope to go camping a lot. we cant get hold of one for 2day though, will just have to improvise, hope the weather stays nice

well we put her on a change mat with a folded sleeping beg on top and a sheet over that, she rolled of countless times and it was really hard to get her to bed, but other than that it went really well, once she was a sleep she was fine!
