we are heading south ferry booked

any suggestions for car break down? I am with the AA are they any good for france?

Bike pump, cool box, matches, tin opener? duct tape and cable ties to repair stuff, credit card for emergency use.
Cheap head torch pound land ones are ideal for the kids.

EHIC cards for all in party. We are going to France at the start if the school holiday and I checked ours last Friday. Only to find out that dd's one was out of date! Hers ran out 3 years before everyone else's although I did get them all at the same time.

Not sure where you're going but a few bag for life type bags are useful to store stuff and needed for shopping in France. Also normal plastic bags for rubbish.

I haven't booked any campsites, never have in the past then we are free to go where we want and head further south if it rains! Heading inland and looking for municipal sites on the whole and have a new book at the ready.

Have torch packed and bike pump and EHIC cards are with driving licence and passports. Cool box packed and cable ties in boot of car already and have supermarket bags ready for rubbish.

It is only a two man tent, so not sure I can hang up kitchen roll

I always take a butchers hook in my toilet bag. And plastic carrier bags. Then when there are not enough hooks in the shower, or the hooks are right ion line with the spray, you put your butchers hook over the door and put alll your stuff in a carrier bag.

Flip flops / crocs for slipping on and off as you go in and out of tent?

They do have shops in France, so you cna't really coem to grief if you forget anything.

Small barbecue? mallet for pegs? Towels. Something to carry water in.

Showering - we take a towelling robe each and flip flops - go to shower naked in robe with one toilet bag with strap - put robe and bag on one hook and shower - then get back in robe and clean teeth - then back to tent by which time I am dry and I get dressed in tent in the dry. Put robe out to dry in sun

I think you need a fire extinguisher in your car for France. The bloke in Halfords said I did last year, anyway... :)

lovecat no you don't have to have a fire extinguisher or first aid kit - but you should carry one in all of the EU as part of the good samaritan

Yes, you need to make sure your insurance covers you to drive in France!

Some policies have an autmatic allowance for a certain number of days in Europe - but you need to check - otherwise you could be driving uninsured!
