Pre-cooling a cool box

How long do you give to pre-cool your cool box? It's an electric one, although we won't have electric there (using cool blocks). Do I need to be putting it on tonight or will first thing tomorrow morning do, with a few cool blocks for added ooomph?

Not sure about electrqic cool boxes but Freeze some milk in plastic containers and it will defrost gradually keeping your other stuff cold.

I freeze some old plastic bottles full of water and put them in 24 hours before packing the box. Meanwhile I freeze anything else that we are taking and can be frozen. Then just before leaving I discard the plastic bottles and pack the box with frozen and chilled goods. And frozen gel packs.

No experience of electric coolboxes.

I've never used an electric one, but we precool ours from the night before we go (using spare ice packs which we won't be taking with us). We also freeze everything we aren't going to use on the 1st night (but you have to remember to get stuff out to defrost sometimes on day 2, have been caught out with our day 2 dinner still frozen before).

Thank you, I put some cool blocks in this morning and run it off our house electric and it's reasonably cool. I have frozen everything I can, so that will help too.
