Pixel · 02/06/2006 12:32

Not sure I should tell you, It's hard enough getting in as it is! Oh all right then, \link{http://www.quantumenterprises.co.uk/burrowhayes/\whisper whisper}.

If I can't get in next year because it's full of Mumsnetters I'll be very crossAngryGrin

peachyClair · 02/06/2006 13:21

You're safe from me Pixel, only about twenty minutes from my Parents so I don't think they'll be impressed if we take them there LOL!

Kathy1972 · 02/06/2006 13:27

Our favourite doesn't have a website - it isn't even marked on the current OS map. But most mners wouldn't want to go there because there are only 2 toilets and an outside sink in the farmyard and no other facilities.
I am not going to say the name because we are scared the Health and Safety police will close it down, but if anyone wants to know more (it's in the Lake District) email me and I will send you details, secret passwords etc.

roisin · 02/06/2006 13:55

I'll CAT you Kathy - I love secrets Grin

roisin · 02/06/2006 13:57

OK - you've opted not to receive CATs, so I can't CAT you Sad

alligator · 02/06/2006 14:25

ooooo Kathy that sounds like just my kinda place 'cept Lake district is a wee bit far for us as we are carless. Do you know of any like that further south?

Kathy1972 · 02/06/2006 14:27

email me at [email protected]
I need to wait for dh to get home from work because he's better than me at directions.

Sorry don't know of any in south. Bet they exist though!

Pixel · 03/06/2006 00:00

Peachyclair, you lucky thing! It's such a beautiful area isn't it? We were going to try somewhere a bit closer to home this year as it's a lot of driving for me (dh doesn't drive) but I just couldn't stay away Smile.

BROWNY · 29/06/2006 12:55

Bumping up for more recommendations please, I'm in Merseyside, thanks!

LucyCampCat · 29/06/2006 13:03

Do you prefer the coast Browny or inland?

BROWNY · 29/06/2006 13:05

Hi Lucycat, either would be great as we are quite new to camping and so far have only been to Worcestershire (Stourport) and North Wales, any recommendations you have would be great - thanks for replying!

BROWNY · 29/06/2006 13:14

Just thought I'd share this beautiful location with you all:

www.lickhillmanor.co.uk/display.php?showPage=contact

It's in Stourport-on-Severn,Worcestershire and has a David Bellamy Award. The showers and toilets are out-of-this-world, lovely and warm with a hairdryer too! There is dishwashing facilities and recycle bins too! High recommended!

Now please tell me yours! [grion]

LucyCampCat · 29/06/2006 13:27

If you like North Wales then we stayed at Eisteddfa near Criccieth at Whit and it's in a great location, the owners couldn't be more helpful and it was quiet at night!!

or on Anglesey there is Tyddyn Isaf just north of Benllech, beautiful views across Lligwy bay but a sloping site or Home Farm also near Benllech which even has flowers in the toilet block!

both of these have David Bellamy awards and are really nice sites - if we can't get in now cos they're full of Mner's I shall regret this!

BROWNY · 29/06/2006 13:44

Thanks for those links, Lucycampcat! I won't tell another soul - honest! I'll look at the sites right now!! Hopefully, we will be able to get away this weekend!

fennel · 30/06/2006 09:37

Some of my favourites (they don't all have websites, we like the smaller ones with fewer facilities):

Wasdale head in the lakes. streams for paddling and damming, trees, mountains. cars kept off site. idyllic when weather good.

Coniston Hall campsite, Coniston. a bit busy but right on the beach, great for playing or watersports.

Red Squirrel in Glencoe. if the mists clear.

Patterdale, on Ullswater. again, right on the lakeside, little beaches to play on. and a riding stables next door if you like horses.

DP's all time favourite is Achmelvich, right in the North West of Scotland, right on a beautiful sandy beach.

we need to find ones in Devon, Cornwall, Dorset now, so please post your ideas for those.

LucyCampCat · 30/06/2006 11:59

I thought they were all a bit northern for you now fennel!!

another scorcher in Manchester today ok so we don't have the sand and sea but hey, no rain's got to be a good thing!
